Franz Beckenbauer: ‘1966 World Cup final was the toughest game in my life’


Watch German legend Franz Beckenbauer talking in 1990 about playing in the 1966 World Cup final, which his West Germany side lost 4-2 after extra time to England.

Beckenbauer was asked to mark England great Sir Bobby Charlton in the final, which he called “an honour”.Former Bayern Munich player Beckenbauer, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, died on Sunday at the age of 78.
