Chelsea striker Sam Kerr says the Blues can focus on the Champions League after victory over Bristol City ended a sticky spell of form.

Emma Hayes’ side sit two points behind their midweek Swedish hosts but would go top of Group D with a win.

“I think we saw at the weekend that a week is a long time in football,” said Kerr.

“Football moves fast, you don’t have time to sit on a game and feel bad for yourself or feel bad for the team.

“It ended up ending on a great note with our win against Bristol and now we can focus back on the Champions League.”

Lauren James, Erin Cuthbert and Kerr scored the goals in the 3-0 weekend morale booster, ahead of the trip to Gothenburg.

Chelsea will be without midfielder Melanie Leupolz, who is absent through illness.

“Unfortunately she probably had it worse than anyone else,” said manager Hayes.

However, there is positive news in defence as Maren Mjelde is back in contention after illness and Kadeisha Buchanan returns to selection after a back spasm kept her out of Sunday’s match.

Goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger’s ankle knock meant Hannah Hampton was able to make her debut at the weekend, but Berger has now recovered.
